Available 7 days a week, Home Land Environmental specializes in property evaluations for real estate transactions. Our in-house lab ensures accurate and speedy results within two days for both water and mold analysis. With locations in Baltimore, Annapolis, and Waldorf we have been serving the real estate community since 2004. As a neutral third party, we provide impartial inspections that include septic evaluations, camera septic & sewer inspections, well yield testing, water sampling & analysis, mold sampling & analysis, and radon testing.

Customer Service Representative — Baltimore
The primary role of this administrative position is to schedule appointments with clients who contact us to have their home (or soon-to-be home) tested for various potential risks that may include impurities in their drinking water, mold, radon, septic tank inspections, camera sewer inspections, and well yield tests. You’ll be responsible for providing STELLAR customer service while scheduling appointments and answering the often never-ending list of questions. You should be able to establish an encouraging rapport quickly because of your positive attitude and ability to connect with the client. You can also speak knowledgeably about our service lines and the real estate industry (which don’t worry, we will teach the right candidate).You should love talking on the phone, know the geography of our service area (Maryland and Southern PA), and be able to piece together a constantly evolving puzzle. Attention to detail is a must. Having fun at work is important to us too so please be witty, kind and do what you say you are going to. With your commitment, we will teach you how to schedule appointments using a specific step by step process. Weekend rotational shifts required. Looking for someone that can effectively and efficiently juggle multiple tasks at one time and not lose their cool. Environmental Inspector — Baltimore
We are looking for a sharp individual with an entrepreneurial mindset to perform evaluations of residential properties for real estate transactions. Seeking a trustworthy professional to operate a Rigid fiber-optic camera and earn your certification to perform water sampling and conduct septic inspections. All certifications/licenses paid for by Home Land Environmental. Opportunities to earn your Pump Installers license, radon certification and mold sampling certification are also available. Join local real estate professional chapters and attend networking events to enhance our footprint in the industry. Experienced Environmental Inspectors will have the opportunity to teach CE classes available for real estate agents. Must have superb communication skills and not be afraid to get your hands dirty while learning a new field. Daily work will include locating and accessing septic systems for visual inspections, collecting water quality samples from private wells, connecting hoses to pressure tanks to determine the yield among other duties. If the system does not have access, digging may be required. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 75 pounds and enjoy working outdoors yearlong. Strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy, is required. Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and will successfully pass a criminal background check. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science is strongly preferred.

Mold Analyst — Baltimore
Day to day operations include, but are not limited to identifying and analyzing fungal mold spores using a Leica 750DM P microscope and logging samples into our Lab Information Management System (LIMS). Mold samples will be prepared for analysis in accordance with the Home Land Labs’ Standard Operation Procedures, Quality and Safety Manual. Slides will be prepared from air cassettes, swabs and tape samples. Identification of genus/group of fungi in prepared samples as well as other common genus/species of fungi that are reported. Able to identify common building and outdoor fungal spores with the use of reference pictures and external documents, i.e. attachment point of Cladosporium. Basic microscope-related terminology and fungal spore analysis terminology required. Will follow the procedure to retain and properly dispose of samples. Will prepare laboratory reports for clients after inputting data including raw counts, calculating final results and reporting results to clients. Complete daily and monthly Quality Assurance checks as assigned. General customer service via phone and email is required. Will have the opportunity to attend training classes in areas of biology, radon, water chemistry, mold collection and mitigation, microbiology, quality assurance, laboratory safety and MDE/EPA protocol. Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping on equipment and the laboratory. A bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry is required in addition to basic microscope knowledge. Candidate must have strong time management skills, exhibit flexibility and be an honest, reliable person.
